Summary of Results for each Line Graph

A

Line Graph 1:

The first line graph (X-axis being “Distance (d/s) ((m))”, Y-axis being “Discharge (cumecs)”) depicts a strong positive correlation that as the distance from the river source increases the discharge of the river elevates too e.g. the discharge was 0.019 m3/s at the source (site 1) where as, the discharge was 0.444 m3/s 1800 metres away from the source (site 19). A sharp increase can be seen between site 16 and site 19 due to a river confluence, with a decrease from site 19 to site 20 due to human influences e.g. ford near the village.

Line Graph 2:

The second line graph (X-axis being “Distance (d/s) ((m)), Y-axis being “Sediment Size (mm)”) illustrates that as the distance from the source of the river increases the average sediment size decreases, e.g. the average sediment size at the source was136.92 mm however, at site 20 (1900 metres away) the average sediment size was 48.06. The graph illustrates a negative correlation, but a weak one, as various anomalies can be seen. These are most likely due to human error as the results of the Power’s Roundness Scale/Index can be very subjective.
