The captain SHALL request dispatch to notify the bridge tender that the "Aerial Platform" need to cross. Fire Dispatch will stress to the tender that this is a "Aerial Platform" and it requires special crossing procedure. When unit is within reasonable distance, bridge tender will drop all gates and stop flow of traffic. No other vehicles will be permitted to cross until the unit has cleared the bridge. To reduce impact, the unit SHALL not exceed 5 MPH (Slower is better). The unit will straddle the centerline to distribute the weight more evenly over both lanes. If unit is cleared before crossing, the captain SHALL request dispatch to notify the tender.

Only use FD or PD personnel. Security guards or any other civilians are prohibited. Using the 360 camera in lieu of spotter is prohibited.

When possible, how should drivers park the apparatus?
They should park to avoid backing when departing. Most advantageous is pulling through a parking spot so they can drive forward when departing. If possible, drive forward around the block or parking area: generally preferred to backing.

How do we initiate regen?
-Engine should be 185 degrees -Engine RPM MUST be at idle (no fast idle or PTO mode). -Transmission in Neutral with parking brake set (do not press brake pedal, it will cancel regen). -Locate the initiate/cancel regen switch, press and hold for 5-10 seconds. Release when idle increases to 1,200-1,400 RPM.

When the engine returns to low idle and the DPF lamp remains off.

What do you do if the DPF lamp remains on immediately after the regen is complete?
Contact the mechanic as soon as possible.

When regen is complete what must be done?
Notify dispatch and BC that "regeneration activity" is complete. Email apparatus and equipment specialist with: Vehicle #, mileage, engine hours, if it caused a delay in response, date, and the time to complete the regen cycle.
