A
- eruption started with pyroclastic flow and mudflows.
- lava so thick it could not flow — built up into a huge lava dome — parts became unstable and collapsed, forming hot, fast moving avalanches of lava blocks, gas and dust.
- earthquakes in 3 epicentre zones
- islands airport completely destroyed by pyroclastic flow
