why was it thought that greater cooperation between European countries would prevent another war in 1945?

A

would mean they rely on each other to run their economies successfully; so would not make sense to go to war w these countries; imp for them to cooperate

what is pooled sovereignty?

A
  • countries giving up some of their indic power yet by working togetehr w other countries, enhance their collective power
  • eg whilst the power of indic european countries to manage their own economies may be slightly reduced, their ability to infl the global ec is enhanced, as countries can act as a member of a much bigger group of nations and economies

  • The Schengen Agreement guaranteed the free movement of people between EU member states
  • currently 28 member states in the single market. EU has a GDP of $18.3tn w only the US having a greater GDP at 21.2tn
