Q

What is the overall function of the Central Nervous System?

A

The CNS is the integrating and controls centre.
The brain integrates information from many internal and external Sense organs, stores information in memory centers, controlled our emotions and intellect, and acts as the main command center, sending information through the spinal chord to muscles and organs throughout the body.

Q

What does is the function of the frontal lobe?

A

The frontal lobe is associated with, thinking planning, emotions, problem solving, controlling emotions (particularly negative) and behavioral control.

Also had the motor area which controls voluntary muscles and Broca’s Area which is associated with speech control

Q

What is the function of the corpus callosum

A

The cerebral hemispheres are separated by a deep fissure. The corpus callosum is a bridge of fibers which enables information of travel between the two hemispheres

Underneath the corpus callosum there are small clusters of nerve cells called nasal ganglia, these have dopamine receptors which play an important role in motor coordination.
Conditions such as Parkinson’s is caused when these receptors break down or die

Q

What is cushing’s triad

A

Cushing’s triad is a clinical indicator characterized by irregular respiration’s, widening pulse pressures and bradycardia that usually indicates impaired brain stem function usually caused by increased inter cranial pressure.
