Q

How is the concentration gradient maintained for diffusion to happen into and out of the alveoli?

A

The blood is constantly flowing which means there will be a higher concentration of oxygen in the alveoli than the blood. Therefore, the oxygen can move down the concentration gradient and the gradient is maintained.
