Tissues Flashcards
What are the 4 types of tissues?
Epithelium, connective, muscle, nerve/nervous
The 3 shapes of epithelial cells
Squamous, cuboidal, columnar
What’s the difference between stratified epithelium and simple epithelium?
Simple has 1 layer of cells, stratified (layered) more than 1 layer
What are the bottom and top layers of epithelial named?
Bottom: basement membrane
Top: Apical surface
Name the epithelium with keratin
Karetinized stratified squamous epithelium
Name the epithelium without keratin
Non keratinized stratified squamous epithelium
What are the 2 kinds of connective tissue proper?
Loose connective tissue
Dense connective tissue
What are the 2 names for supporting connective tissue?
Cartilage and bone
What is the name of connective fluid tissue?
Blood
What are the three classifications of connective tissue?
Connective tissue proper, supporting connective tissue, and fluid connective tissue
What are the three types of loose connective tissue?
Areolar, adipose, reticular
What are the three types of dense connective tissue?
Regular, irregular, elastic
What are the 3 types of cartilage?
Hyaline, fibrocartilage, and elastic
What are the 2 types of bone?
Spongy and compact
What are the 3 types of muscle?
Cardiac, skeletal, and smooth
What are 2 main parts in the nervous tissue?
Neurons, neuroglial cells
What are the 2 classifications of epithelial tissues?
Simple and stratified
Name the formed elements of blood
Erythrocytes, leukocytes, and platelets
What are the two general types of nervous tissue ?
Neuron and neuroglia cells
What are the functional properties of a neuron?
Cell body integrates and sends nerve impulses
What are the things branching out of the cell body?
The dendrytes
What is the one thing branching out of cell body?
The axon
What connects the cell body to the axon?
The axon hillock
Dendrites direct information…
Toward cell body
