Basis to all that has been said with regard to the utilization and accuracy of the polygraph technique is the matter of the examiner qualification and skills.

must be an intelligent person, with reasonably good educational background - preferably college degree.

He should have an intense interest in human nature, and suitable personality traits which may be evident from his otherwise general ability to “get along” with people and to be well liked by his friends and associates

- Subject whose guilt is definite or reasonably certain
- Emotional offender
- Person who commit crimes in the heat of passion
- Person whose offenses are accidental in nature
- Non-Emotional offender
- Person who commit crimes for financial gain
- Subject whose guilt is doubtful or uncertain
Three types of subject for polygraph testing are?
- Suspect
- Victim or complainant
- Witness
The subject must be in Al Condition:
- The subject should stop from smoking at least 2 hours prior to the test.
- The subject should avoid taking drugs at least 12 hours before the test.
- The subject if female should not be: Pregnant, having menstruation or not wearing tight shirt or girdle.
- The subject should not be hungry. (Over the last 5 to 6 hours)
- The subject should not be physically or emotional abuse.
- The subject should not be highly nervous.
The Examination Room:
- The room must be spacious for two persons.
- The room must be well-ventilated
- The room must be well-lighted
- Not be decorated
- The roo must be 90 percent soundproof; and
- The room should be equipped with a one way mirror.
Phases in the Conduct of Polygraph Examination
Phase 1: Initial interview/ preliminary preparation
Phase 2: Pre-test interview
Phase 3: The examination proper
Phase 4: The Post- Test interview
The Examination Room:
- The room must be spacious for two persons.
- The room must be well-ventilated
- The room must be well-lighted
- Not be decorated
- The roo must be 90 percent soundproof; and
- The room should be equipped with a one way mirror.
This stage includes obtaining and evaluation of facts, determining areas the subject needs to be asked and the investigator must furnish the examiner
Phase 1. Initial Interview/Preliminary Preparations
Generally intends to prepare and condition the subject, and determines his physical and psychological readiness for the examination.

- for measuring and recording blood pressure amplitude and pulse rate (Cardiograph)

This stage includes all consideration that bears on the examination. This is done just after the instrument is turned off.
