A
ukraine was governed by russia until 1991
in 2013 ukraine government decided not to form links with western europe but with russia instead
many people were furious which led to violence

nato supports negotiations between the two sides to settle the conflict
2015 - created a rapid response force stationed in surrounding countries to deter at future attempts from russia
the uk led the rapid response group in 2017 as well as supplying jets

UN supports peace talks between russia and ukraine and provides aid to refugees who were forced to leave their homes
2015 - uk gave £15 million to ukraine and training for the army
