What is a citizen?
A
A legal resident of a country who owes allegiance to that place and is entitled to full civil rights

What are the three ways you can become a citizen?
A
- If you are born somewhere else but one parent is a U.S citizen
- If you are at all born in the U.S
- You take the immigration test and become a naturalized citizen

What are the five requirements for naturalization
A
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must live here for at least 5 years
- Have limited English and grammar skills
- Show “Good Moral Character”
- Pass a basic history and gov. test

A
A group or individual that try’s to control society to create order by making and enforcing public policies

What are the four characteristics that a state/ nation needs to have
A
- Population
- Territory w/ Boundaries
- Government
- Sovereignty

What are the four theories on the origin of the state and what modern day political style do they represent
A
- Force Theory: Someone over took the power and ruled over forcingly (Dictatorship)
- Divine Right: Believe God gave someone the right to rule (Monarchy)
- Social Contract: Everyone agreed on one person to rule (Democracy)
- Evolutionary: Everything played out naturally and eventually someone became in charge

What are the three ways to classify the forms of government
A
- Participation: Who can participate (Democracy, Direct Democracy, Representative Democracy, Dictatorship, Autocracy, Oligarchy)
- Geographic: Where is the gov. power located (Unitary gov., Confederate gov., Federal gov.)
- What is the relationship between the Legislative and Executive branches: (Presidential relationship, parliamentary relationship)
