Q

full class transition

A

When members are switching between segments of class, you’ll see a yellow box at the bottom of the block that indicates how long the Full Class Transition is and where the group is moving to.

For example, in the 2G Template, at the bottom of the Tread Block column a half yellow box states “1:30 Transition to Floor”. Therefore, you know when the members in the first Tread Group have completed the block they will have 1:30 to Transition to their station on the weight floor. In the right column you see the half yellow box indicating the Floor Group has 1:30 to Transition to Tread and get to Base. These transitions will happen simultaneously while conducting class.

At the end of class, after all groups have finished their work on the treadmill, rower, and weight floor, everyone will Transition to the weight floor to finish class with the Mobility Matrix. This is identified on the bottom of the Template with a full yellow box that states “1:30 Transition to Floor and Begin Flexibility Block”.

Being able to identify when Full Class Transitions occur on a 2G, 3G, and Lift 45 Template is key to creating a seamless experience for members.

NOTE: Exceptions to the rule do exist, and on some Templates, Full Class Transitions may appear differently. Just remember, a Transition will always be indicated by the word Transition in Bold within a box.

Q

transition within a block

A

There are situations when a Template will include Transitions within a block of work. This is when members move from one activity to another. When these occur you’ll see a yellow box within the block that indicates either the time of the Transition and/or where members are moving to. These Transitions will either be timed by the Coach, or self-paced by the members – it’s all based on the Template design.

Transition within a Block – Timed by the Coach

Example A: In this 2G Template that includes a Rowing Block with a rower + exercise structure, you’ll notice 2 half yellow boxes that state “0:30 Transition”. This tells you, that members have 30-seconds to stand up, grab their medicine ball, and begin to complete the exercise. You will be responsible for timing members in this Transition.

Transitions within a Block – Member self-paced

Example B: In this 2G Run/Row Template, members are moving between the treadmill and rower at their own pace. The Transition is indicated by the half yellow box that states “Transition to Tread”. This tells members that once they finish their 20 Stroke Push Row they will move to the treadmill to complete a 0:30 Push. In this format you are only responsible for timing the overall duration of the block. Each member will move at their own pace and the Transitions will be different for each member.

Q

transition within a segment of class

A

Another type of Transition you may see is a Transition within a Segment of class. These Transitions call one group, the Tread Group or the Floor Group, to complete a block at one station and then complete the next block at another station, prior to the Full Class Transition.

Q

wipes

A

Distribute wipes to each member before every Transition (this keeps our studios clean and sanitized). Instruct members to wipe down all touched surfaces – except the OTconnect screens as the alcohol/sanitizing wipes are not good for the tablet.

Q

wrap up

A

Each group will finish a segment of class with a “Finisher”.
This is the final portion of that segment within class and
indicates that a Shift is coming.
As you Wrap-up the current block and get ready for the Shift, communicate the following cues to each group.

Tread Group: After Finisher, “3, 2, 1 Walking Recovery…when you’re ready, hit STOP and turn around. I’m coming behind you with a wipe. Wipe down everything you’ve touched!”

Rower Group: After Finisher, “Rowers, rack your handles and unstrap your feet. You’ve got a wipe on your watertank. Go ahead and wipe down everything you’ve touched.”

Floor Group: After Finisher, “Shake it out. Nice work! You’ve got a wipe at your station. Please wipe everything down that you touched and put away your equipment.”

Q

shift

A

Move groups to start the next class segment.
Remember TRF: Treadmill → Rower → Floor and you’ll always direct your members around the room with ease.
- after finisher is complete lower music prior to shift

Q

set up

A

In the Set-Up, you’re painting a picture of the workout that gets
your members ready for success in the block. You’ll do this through executing O.R.D.E.R. on the Floor, and providing an Overview + Forecast for the Rowers and Treads.
Whether executing the Set-Up for members on the weight floor,
rower, or treadmill, providing all the information is vital to
members’ success. Remember, there are times when you will
repeat the Set-Up during a Transition.
Be sure to study your Template when this is appropriate.
