Unit 2 Flashcards
(10 cards)
Passive transport
a net movement of molecules from high to low concentration without metabolic energy (like ATP)
passive transport (Diffusion)
movement of molecules without the use of any transport proteins
passive transport (Facilitated diffusion)
Movement of molecules with the help of transport proteins
Active transport
requires energy to move molecules (moves against a concentration gradient)
Golgi Body
-packages and helps transport proteins to other parts of the cell or even out of the cell
-vesicles surround the Golgi body and they help cell materials move around the cell
Lysosome
-has Hydrolytic enzymes that digest damaged cell parts and proteins carbs and lipids
Vacuoles
-stores water and mainly gets rid of waste
-pushes up against the cell wall in plants which is called turgor pressure which helps all parts of the plant have water delivered to it
what is the formula for surface area for efficiency?
SA/V
what kinds of cells are more efficient?
smaller ones
