forced migration
migrant has been pressured to move ( war, natural disasters, relocation of indigenous groups)
Transnational migration
the movement of individuals or groups across national borders while maintaining strong connections to their home countries
internal migration
moving within a countries borders
external migration
permanently moving from one country to another
friction of distance
the greater the distance, the more difficult and costly (and sometimes longer) it becomes to move between places.
transhumance
moving livestock between seasons and areas ( livestock is moved to the lowlands in the winters and to the highlands in the summers.)
chain migration
when one person migrates somewhere, another one will too (typically family)

migration from walking/series of smaller movement (moving from a rural area to a smaller town, then to a larger city, and finally to the ultimate destination.)

prevents people from migrating (Long journey, laws, and mountains)

influences people to settle somewhere else ( a place with the same opportunities that’s closer)

someone forced to flee their country (persecution violence and war)

exploiting someone (slaves, sex workers)
