how did Rome grow in size?
through conquest and trade
Identify one-way geography of Rome was different than Greece?
Rome was was very flat and Greece had a lot of mountains
What geographic factors made it possible for the Romans to unite the Italian peninsula?
Flat plains and the Mediteranian Sea, there weren’t many moutains

located in the Mediteratian sea south of Europe. connects Africa, Euroupe, and Asia

- They were more sophisticated because they had a grid and dranage system

Rivers: (Indus and Ganges) good farming, good trade, good transportation

Rome defeated Carthrage gained full control over sicilly, gained even more territory gainning almost absolute dominance over the whole region

Who was Alexander the Great and how did he gain power?
Great Genera who was the Son of King Philip the 2nd and was known for never loosing a battel,became a ruler of rome.

How did the Punic wars begin?
Carthrage and Rome were always at odds but the war started because they both wanted full control over sicilly (which they both partially owned)
Was Athen’s a true democracy ? why or why not?
No! because the mojority of people in socioty (80%) were no able to vote. And there was no freedome of speech in socioty. If you expressed an opinion that was diffrent you were exciled for over 10 years.
who was shi Huangdi? What was Chna like politically before Shi Haungdi’s rule and how did it change once he began his rule?
-the Ruler of the Quin Dynasty
before his rule: China was divided at at war
after: He united China, expanded trade and territory. However his opresive ways still created a lot of suffering.
How did legalism help Shi Haungdi gain and maintain power?
Legalism had very strict rules and punishments that kept citizens under control and unable to over through or betray him
Legalism Also gave all the power to Shi Huangdi, and he put the only other people with political power (the futal lords) to death.

Ancient Greece

A mix of Indian, Persian, Egyptian, and Roman culture

standardization/ unification of currency, weights, road systems, language and the bulding of canals created much easier communication and made trade much faster and efficient.

Explain the social Hierarchy of the Roman empire.
from highest to lowest status
Patricians: Wealthy landowners..welcomed in politics
Pelibians: Lower class (majority of the citizens). could earn the right to participate in office
freedmen: formar slave that gained freedome, not considered a citizen, their Children however were, (farmers, trandesmen, even worked in Roman gov)
Slaves: people whos homes were conqured by Rome, considered property, no rights, performed hard labor jobs
Women: had very few rights that varied as you moved up the class hiearchy, but still considered citizens

mass preoduction of coins: made taxing easier which gave the Emprire more wealth +power
