Unit 4 Flashcards
(9 cards)
Boyles law
V1P1=V2P2
Volume of a gas varies inversely with the pressure when temperature stays the same.
Charle’s law
V1/T1=V2/T2
Volume of a gas varies directly with the temperature when pressure remains the same
Gay-lussac’s law
P1/T1=P2/T2
Pressure varies directly with temperature when volume remains the same
Combined gas law
V1P1/T1=V2P2/T2 or
V1 P1 T2=V2 P2 T1
Relationship shows directly proportional relationship between temperature and pressure and temperature and volume. Also the inversely proportional relationship between pressure and volume, when the amount of gas remains the same
Ideal gas law
PV=nRT

Substance being dissolved
What is a solvent?
The substance dissolving the solute
What is an effect of a strong acid or base?
They completely dissolve
What is an effect of a weak acid or base?
They partially dissolve
