Unit 6 Flashcards
(4 cards)
Chemical equation for photosynthesis
6CO2 + 6H2O + light = C6H12O6 + 6O2
Carbon dioxide + water +light = glucose + oxygen
Chemical equation for cellular respiration
C6H12O6 + 6O2 -> H2O + 6CO + energy
Glucose + oxygen -> water + carbon dioxide + energy
What are the steps of photosynthesis?
Light dependent reactions, which converts sunlight in chemical energy, NADPH, and ATP, occurs in the thylakoid.
Light independent reactions/ the Calvin cycle, which converts ATP and NADPH in stable carbohydrates for long term storage. Occurs in the stroma.
What are the steps to cellular respiration?
Glycolysis
Krebs cycle, occurs in the mitochondria and produces carbon dioxide, NADPH, FADH2, and ATP
