Is an RNP Approach with LNAV/VNAV considered a ‘Precision Approach’?

A

No, it is a Approach with vertical guidance (APV).

Q

If the approach aid fails mid approach, can we continue?

A

If visual yes. If not visual company SOPs require MAP, either via dead reckoning or alternate navigation aid. CAA law permits nav aid to be changed mid approach and advise ATC.

23
Q

RNP Values:

A

Enroute: 2.0
Terminal: (30nm of dep/arr): 1.0
Final approach fix: 0.3
MAP: 1.0

24
Q

When can the 406 Mhz ELT be tested?

A

It CANNOT be unless co-ordinated 2 business days prior with RCCNZ.

25
When can the 121.5 Mhz ELT be tested?
Within first 5 minutes passed the hour. 3 sweeps, not longer than 20 seconds (if longer than 30 seconds it triggers the 406mhz to satellite).
26
How to turn off ELT?
If activated (sound and also red flashing light), turn to ON, then back to ARM.
27
Service ceiling at 18,500 KG in ISA, NON icing conditions?
12,300ft
28
Service ceiling at 18,500 KG in ISA, icing conditions?
10,000ft
29
Definition of Icing conditions?
Various Definitions, have concluded the most restrictive definition: - SAT in flight is 5 degrees or less/ on ground or take off is 10 degrees or less AND visible moisture is present. - SAT on ground is 10 degrees or less and ice, snow, standing water etc around. - Frost conditions exist.
30
What is 'Visible Moisture'?
During ground or flight operations, visible moisture exists when operating in clouds, fog or mist with a visibility of 1600 m or less, rain, snow, sleet or ice crystals.
31
What is minimum holding speed from performance manual vs minimum holding speed in icing? Minimum Speed in icing for cruise/descent
Normal: Vclimb + 4 Icing: Vclimb + 20 (5 more than pink speeds, also same as minimum cruise and descent speed).
32
Code 5/6 max crosswind limits, can we operate on contaminated runways?
36 knots for both. Contaminated is code 4 and less. Cannot operate unless head of flight ops approval.
33
Can you reengage the autopilot after memory items for a control jam?
No (QRH will specify this)
