Flashcards in Velocity And Distance Time Graph's Deck (18):
What does the gradient of a distance time graph tell you?
how fast your object is travelling
What does gradient equal?
What is acceleration?
Acceleration is how quickly velocity is changing
What is the formula for acceleration?
Change in velocity
What is the unit for acceleration?
What is the difference between speed and velocity?
Speed is just how fast you're going with no regard to direction.
Velocity however must have the directions specified
What does gradient equal in a velocity time graph?
Gradient = acceleration
What is gravitational force?
Gravitational force is the force of attraction between all masses
What two important effects does gravity have on all matters?
1) on the surface of the planet it makes all things accerlate to the ground
2) it gives everything a weight
What is mass and what is weight?
Mass is just the amount of stuff in an object for any given object to this will have the same value anywhere in the universe
Weight is caused by the pull of the gravitational force
What is weight measured in?
Weight is a force measured in newtons
How is weight measured?
It is measured using a spring balance or newton metre
Mass is not a force. What is it measured in and with?
Mass is measured in kilograms with a mass balance
What is the equation for weight, mass and gravitational field strength?
Weight= mass X gravitational field
What is the value of the gravity strength on earth and on the moon?
Earth = 10 N/kg
Moon= 1.6 N/kg
What are the units of acceleration mass and weight
Acceleration = m/s (2)
A car goes from 0 to 30 m/s (2) in 6 seconds. Calculate its acceleration
________ = 5 m/s (2)
