War
A state of armed conflict between different countries or different groups within a country.
peace
A state or period in which there is no war or a war has ended.

A struggle or fight against the enemies of Islam; Muslim holy war.

1861–1865, fought between the northern and southern United States over slavery.

1990–1994, between Rwandan Armed Forces and Rwandan Patriotic Front due to Hutu-Tutsi conflict.

Destruction
Loss of civilian and soldier lives; destruction of infrastructure and environment.
Refugees
Millions forced to flee homes (over 12 million refugees globally).
PTSD
Psychological impact of war on soldiers and civilians; post-traumatic stress disorder.
Economic Cost
War disrupts economies; loss of resources, homes, crops.
Poverty & Education
War often increases poverty and decreases access to education.
Government Change
Hinduism
Generally against war, but self-defensive war may be justified.
Christianity
Supports just and holy wars historically; Jesus taught pacifism.
Judaism
Tenakh includes examples of holy wars, but peace is ideal.
Islam
Jihad seen more as spiritual struggle; can also mean holy war.
