A

. Cavalries now harassed the enemy with pistols aswell as swords
. Dragoons ( mounted infantry ) took on the role of them mounted archer

Why did musketeers and pikemen have to work together ?

A

They needed to work together because they would be destroyed alone . Cavalry could ride down musketeers because they were slow to reload , but the pikemen could stop a cavalry charge . Pikemen were slow too but musketeers helped them .

What happened at the Battle of Naseby ?
The parlimentarians positioned themselves one side of the valley behind a hill . Their high position gave a tactical advantage as Prince Rupert was unwilling to engage musket and artillery fire head on . Parliamentarians sent over their dragoons behind the hedges , near where the royalists cavalry where about to charge . They only effect the charge a little as it headed toward the new model army . Prince ruperts cavalry drove off their foes , but lost discipline and raided a baggage train for plunder . The new model army held the centre , losing ground as the frontline breaks . Cromwell decides to use his cavarly to attack the flanks and rear of the royalist infantry , while fairfax counterattack at the centre . The royalists break . Cromwells army pursues the remaining royalist cavalry , destroying them
