What is the swash
The transfer of a wave’s energy up the beach
What is the backwash
The transfer of a wave’s energy down the beach
What is a Constructive wave
A wave that has a great swash than backwash. It also carrys sand, shingle and other bits off the sea floor onto the beach
What is a deconstructive wave
A wave that has a greater backwash than swash. It also carries sand, shingles and other bits off the sea floor back down the beach
What is a wave
The movement of the wind across the surface of water
What is the fetch of a wave
The distance over which the wind has travelled/blown
What is a Coast
A Coast is where the edge of the land meets the sea or ocean
How are waves caused
By the wind dragging on the surface of the water
What is the trough of a wave
The trough of a wave the dip between two waves
What is the crest of a wave
The crest of a wave is the peak of the wave
Why does a wave break
Because the water that is rotating below the wave touches the sea bed and FRICTION is created which causes DRAG therefore the wave breaks over itself

At a right angle down the beach
