week 1 Flashcards
(11 cards)
What is the visible light spectrum?
400-700 nm
How does spectral power distribution work?
The lower the percentage/ the less the amount of energy being emitted the lighter (the darker the colour is) and vice versa. Based on additive colour theory
What are the three parts to viewing colour?
Light source, object, observer
What is light?
Light is a range of waves (cosmic, z-rays, eltraviolet, infrared, radar, microwave, radio, TV)
What is radiation?
Waves that make up the electromagnetic spectrum, radiation is the visible spectrum is known as light
What is the colour sequence?
Violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red
What are different CIE systems?
XYZ, Yxy, Lab, LCH
What are the attributes of colour?
Hue, saturation, lightness
What are advantages of the Yxy diagram?
Used for a range of calculations and visualizations
What are the disadvantages of the Yxy diagram?
Perceptually non-uniform, colour differences are not equally spaced throughout the diagram
What does LCh* stand for?
Lightness, chroma coordinate, hue angle
