What is early binding?
Converting all images to the final destination early on in the workflow
What is late binding?
Convert all images to the final destination later on in the workflow
What are the advantages of early binding?
Everyone is aware/ working in the final destination space, and it preserves necessary device values
What are the disadvantages of early binding?
Less flexibility, decisions must be made early on and well in advance. high level of communication needed
What are the advantages of late binding?
Increased flexibility, less file versions to store and organize, less processing upstream, trained people handle the information
What are the disadvantages of late binding?
Possible miscommunication of colour intention, designer does not view the final colours
What are spot colours used for?
Brand colours, colours outside of the CMYK gamut, colour stability, increased gamut printing

Simple, Duo-tone, Complex
