Adage
Definition: A short, wise saying that gives advice or shares a truth.
ex: “A stitch in time saves nine” is an adage that means fixing a
problem early prevents it from getting worse.
Express
Definition: To share or show what you think or feel about something.
Example: If you express your opinion on a movie, you might say, “I think
the movie was exciting and well-acted.”
Statement
A sentence or remark that provides information
Excerpt
Definition: A short part taken from a larger text or piece of writing.
● Example: If you read a passage from a book for a class assignment, that
passage is an excerpt from the larger book.
Organizational Structure
Definition: The way in which ideas and information are arranged in a piece
of writing.
● Example: In a well-organized essay, you might start with an introduction,
followed by body paragraphs that discuss different points, and end with a conclusion.
