Definition: Essential; Important
Example: “Understanding the main idea is an integral component to answering comprehension questions of an excerpt.
Emphatic
Definition: Show or giving emphasis; forceful
Example: “Nicole was emphatic when she told her daughter not to come late.”
Figurative Comparison
Definition: Using metaphoric or symbolic language to make a comparison
Example: “Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, uses a lot of figurative comparison.”
Impartial
Definition: Fair; neutral
Example: “Since the judge is related to the defendant, it is not possible for him to be impartial.”
Apprehension
Definition: Sense of anxiety
Example: “Her apprehension was assuming a reduced priority.”
