host-country national strategy
(Polycentric) which means to employ people who were born in the country in which thebusiness is operating
third-country national strategy or global strategy
country national (or Global) strategy (means to employee people from an entirely different country from the home country and host country.

: all sales staff are paid
the same no matter what country they are in; does not address
differences in costs of living abroad
Localized compensation strategy
a pay banding system based on regions, such as South America, Europe, and North America, but discourages relocation to a less developed (i.e. poorer paying) region
(for example you will get payed more if you live in zürich than if you live in Thurgau)
Balance sheet approach
pay a similar base salar companywide or regionwide and offer expatriates an allowance based on specific market conditions in each country (Cartland, 1993)
