- 3D printing - prosthetics
- Artificial organs
Organ donation issues
Supply and demand issues
- Growing demand due to ageing, obesity and hypertension
- limited demand as less organs (due to fail road deaths)
- need family consent to be an organ donor
Codeine withdrawal implications
codeine was changed from a scheduled 2/3 to a schedule 4 due to TGA monitoring and its addictive affects
Problems which have occurred because of this include o Takes more time in pain management
o Some doctors may tend to prescribe stronger pain killers
o Some cases where combination of simple pain killers can’t be used
o Some painkillers can adversely affect organs over long periods of time
o Doctor shoppers can still get access to large amounts of codeine
o Stopping scripts isn’t enough, patients need to be helped through addiction.
euthanasia implications
Principle of non-maleficence
Doctors should not be involved in interventions that have the primary intention of ending a persons life
