Victoria system demand
In Victoria it takes 17 minutes from calling 000 to getting to the hospital
In Victoria there is less demand for trauma and more demand for heart attacks and falls
what states have poor system demand and why
Tasmania and NT
Due to accessibility issues and poor roads
where are ambulance services free
Queensland and Tasmania
In all other states, insurance is required for ambulance transport
what is good sam
Good sam is an app that provides rapid service, early care, knowledge on closest defibrillator and CPR while waiting for ambulance services to arrive.
It is available for those who have a registered ARTIO course and HPI registration
How does good sam work
- Triple zero message triggers an alert on Good Sam app
- Nearby qualified health professional is alerted through the app. They are given the emergency’s location and the location of the nearest defibrillator
- The health professional arrives at the emergency and is able to begin CPR while waiting for the ambulance to arrive
