A
  • separates muscles into posterior, anterior & medial muscle compartments
  • thickened laterally to form iliotibial tract/band [ITT/ITB]
  • passes over knee & becomes continuous with fascia of leg
    attaches distally to the femoral & tibial condyles & fibula
  • forms ‘sleeve’ around entire lower limb
