What is MBO

A

Management by objectives is a structured process that links planning and controlling in an organisation.
When using this methodology communication is very important and should be transparent and happen regularly. The setting of objectives and the reviewing of their progress should be a team activity.
MBO creates an agreement between two parties that must work closely together

A
  • If you focus on ‘easy’ objectives it can seem too much effort
  • IF you create too much paperwork no one wants to do it
  • If the manager just tells the team what the objectives are no one wants to own them.
