route of brachial plexus
formed of C5-T1
emerges between middle and anterior scalene with subclavian artery, NOT subclavian vein. posterior to SCM and clavicle. under clavicle, over 1st rib. with axillary artery (after lat border of 1st rib). into cervico axillary canal and axillary space. to medial arm.
the roots and trunks are superior to clavicle
structures of the axilla
contains infraclavicular part of brachial plexus, axilla artery and vein, lymph nodes, fat and connective tissue
phrenic nerve
C3-5. anterior to ant scalene, supplies diaphragm
dorsal scap nerve
C4-5.
pierces middle scalene, runs deep to levator scap and rhomboids
long thoracic nerve
C5-7
post to brachial plexus, down medial wall of axilla
nerve to subclavius
C4-6
arises off upper trunk of brachial plexus, runs ant. to innervate subclavius
suprascapular nerve
C4-6
arises from upper trunk. passes through suprascapular notch, around spinoglenoid notch
lateral and medial pectoral nerves
lateral C5-7. medial C8-T1
upper and lower subscapular nerves
