Heuristic
A simple thinking strategy that often allows us to make judgements and solve problems efficiently.
Convergent Thinking
The ability to give the “correct” answer to standard questions that do not require significant creativity
Divergent Thinking
The thought process or method used to generate creative ideas by exploring many possible solutions.
Framing
The way an issue is posed ; how an issue is framed can significantly affect decisions and judgments.
Belief Perseverance
Clinging to ones initial conceptions after the bias on who’s they were formed has been discredited.
Representative Heuristic
Judging the likelihood of things in terms of how well they seem to represent or match particular prototypes.
Brocas’s Area
Controls language expressions, an area, usually in the left frontal lobe, that directs the muscle movements involved in speech.
Wernicke’s Area
Controls language reception- a brain area involved in language comprehension and expression ; usually in the left temporal lobe
Mental Set
A tendency to approach a problem in one particular way, after that has been successful in the past.
Intuition
An effortless, immediate, automatic, feeling or thought, as contrasted with explicit, conscious reasoning.
