Brainscape is changing the way people learn, using cognitive science and mobile technology. Founded by cognitive neuroscientists, engineers, & education industry executives, we've built a robust infrastructure to support our continued growth (5 million users and growing fast), and we’re looking for an awesome iOS Engineer to work with our CTO. Candidates in New York or San Diego are preferred, but we'll work flexibly with anyone if it's the right fit.

Skills & Requirements

• 5+ years programming experience.
• 2+ years iOS or Mac development experience.
• You must have worked on at least one *large* development project before (in any language), with several developers.
• You must have worked on and supported a product that has *shipped*. (Your own app on the App Store totally counts)
• Technologies:
• Cocoa/Cocoa Touch - You must be a skilled, disciplined Objective-C Developer with UIKit or AppKit experience.
• SQLite - Core Data is nice, but you must understand how traditional databases work.
• RESTful Web Services - You will need to write robust code that works and fails gracefully without a connection.
• Version Control (we use Mercurial but are not married to it)
• Ruby on Rails (not required, but nice to have)
• Design sensibilities - You should be able to design usable and eye-pleasing user interface in Cocoa Touch.
• Habits
• You obsessively manage dependencies and separate concerns. This is crucially important. Using blocks, delegation, and notifications is how we roll.
• You know how to work well with a QA to ship air-tight code.
• You are not OK with black boxes and there is no technology or code library you can't learn if you need to.
