What is adhesive capsulitis?
A
-Progressive pain and stiffness of shoulder in patients 40-60 resolving after around 24 months

Why does adhesive capsulitis occur?
A
- Unclear
- Sometimes history of triggering trauma
- May occur after surgery on shoulder
- Assoc with diabetes, hypercholesterolaemia, Dupuytren’s

Signs/symptoms of Frozen shoulder?
A
- Initial pain (subsides after 2-9 months)
- Stiffening increases (4-12 months)
- Stiffening gradulaly thaws over time

Principal clinical sign of frozen shoulder?
A
Loss of external rotation

Treatment of adhesive capsulitis?
A
- Non-operative= relieving pain while condition resolves
- Physiotheraoy
- Analgesic
- Intra-articular injections
- Manipulation under anaesthetic (tears capsule)
- Surgical capsular release (divide capsule)

When would you do MUA or surgical capsular release?
A
When pain settled and patient cannot tolerate functional loss the recovery will be hastened by these
