Q
Function of hemoglobin
A
Hemoglobin is the protein that carries 98.5% of the oxygen in our blood cells. The other 1.5% is dissolved in the liquid part of the blood.
Oxygen diffuses from alveoli into liquid part of blood & blood cells.
Hemoglobin increases blood’s capacity to carry oxygen by nearly 70 times as without it! It also binds with molecules of oxygen to form oxyhemoglobin, which gives oxygenated blood its bright red colour (deoxygenated is dark red)
