Q

Protein (what they do, primary structure, and sources of them)

A

Builds muscle tissue, hemoglobin in red blood cells help carry oxygen, as enzymes, hormones, transport function, etc… has lots of functions.

Primary structure is a chain of amino acids. [Essential amino acid - You can’t make them and have to consume them. There are 20 total amino acids and 8 are essential]

Found in meats & nuts

Q

Vitamins & minerals (what they do and sources of them)

A

Vitamins - can be fat-soluble (dissolve in fat. ex. vitamins A, D, E, K) or water soluble (dissolve in water, like Vitamin C), regulates cell functions, growth, & developments within our bodies. Found in fruits & veggies

Minerals - calcium & phosphorus are important for bones; iron for blood. Found in dairy.
