Q
2 examples of magnetic devices
A
- magnetic hard drive
- magnetic tape
2
Q
How is data stored in magnetic devices?
A
- Data stored by altering the magnetic field of a small section of the tape or disk.
- One orientation represents a binary value of 1 and the other represents a 0.
- Written to using a write head.
- Read head can then read the magnetic field and retrieve the data.
- These heads move across the disk.

Q
How is data stored in solid state devices?
A
- Store data using semiconductors.
- Drives can be based on NAND Flash or DRAM.
- No moving parts required.
- Limited life span.
