Designing Systems to Support Workflow Flashcards
the study of the work environment and its effect on humans.
Ergonomics
three types of ergonomics
Physical, Cognitive, and Organized
deals with the interaction between a person’s body and a machine.
Physical Ergonomics
also known as engineering psychology
Cognitive Ergonomics
deals with the interaction between the human mind and work
Cognitive Ergonomics
also known as macro ergonomics
Organized Ergonomics
deals with the culture of work including issues of safety and ethics.
Organized Ergonomics
Any injury resulting from performing a similar motion repeatedly.
Repetitive Stress injury
This is the most well-known repetitive stress injury.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
It involves the compression of the median nerve located in the wrist.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
This helps reduce eyestrain from light reflecting from a user’s monitor.
Glare filter
This allows the keyboard to be situated below the elbows and allows the wrists to be held at a straighter, more natural angle.
Negative keyboard angles
This holds documents at eye level so that the user may type and enter information without moving their neck up and down.
Document holder
This helps support the back more comfortably, and helps position the back with a proper curvature to alleviate stress.
Lumbar support
This helps to improve posture, increase blood flow to the feet, and prevent lower back pain.
