18
Q

What is the Silness and Loe Plaque Index?

A

The measurement of oral hygiene based on the soft debris and mineralised deposits . Each surface on the tooth is given a score 0-3.

19
Q

How is Silness and Loe score worked out?

A

The scores for each surface of the tooth are added and then divided by 4.

20
Q

In silliness and Loe, what does a score of 0 mean?

A

No plaque

21
Q

In silliness and Loe, what does a score of 1 mean?

A

A film of plaque. Maybe seen after disclosing tablets.

22
Q

In silliness and Loe, what does a score of 2 mean?

A

Moderate accumulation of soft deposits. Seen by the naked eye.

23
Q

In silliness and Loe, what does a score of 3 mean?

A

Abundance of soft matter, within the pocket and/or tooth margin.

24
Q

How often does the BASCD conduct an epidemiology survey? What do they do?

A

Annually. Studies 5, 12 & 14 year olds, results are given by decayed, missing and filled teeth.

25
Q

Individuals sorted into DMFT values. 1/3 with the highest scores are selected. The mean DMFT is calculated from this subgroup. This is the value of SCI.
