Deadly Dan the smoke free man

A

-superhero who spreads message of smoking is not cool

-eat a healthy diet, drink water and be physically active.

-Implemented by the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service who works together with the Tackling Indigenous Smoking Team (TIS) and Quit to raise awareness on the effects of smoking.

-developed a children’s book - Deadly Dan at the League

-culturally appropriate as it uses Koori English words and a culturally-relevant story for the north-west Melbourne Aboriginal community.

-preschool children can learn the important message of ‘you smoke, you choke’ by focusing efforts on the next generation of Aboriginal children they can influence their parents, carers and Elders about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
