Lab Practical 3 - appendicular skeleton Flashcards
pectoral girdle: scapula
shoulder blades. triangular, and are wing shaped. posterior side has a spine (protruding thingy)
scapula: acromion process
roughened end of the spine of the scapula, connects with clavicle
LATERAL
scapula: coracoid process
beaklike process, near acromion
scapula: glenoid cavity
on lateral edge, articulates with humerous
scapula: superior border
superior
scapula: lateral border
lateral
scapula: medial border
medial side
scapula: spine
the thing that protrudes from the posterior side
scapula: supraspinosus fossa
superior part of the flat piece
scapula: infraspinosus fossa
inferior part of the flat piece
pectoral girdle: clavicle
collarbone
clavicle: acromial end
attaches to scapula to form part of the shoulder joint - rounded
clavicle: sternal end
attaches to sternal manubrium
looks flat if you look at it straight on.
humerus
upper arm bone.
humerus: head
head fits into glenoid cavity of the scapula.
humerus: greater tubercle
on anterior, it’s the lateral side , same side as deltoid tuberosity.
humerus: lesser tubercle
on anterior, medial side, not visible from posterior view.
humerus: deltoid tuberosity
midpoint of shaft, where deltoid attaches
lateral side.
humerus: lateral epicondyle
lateral posterior (right side, when looking at posterior view)
humerus: medial epicondyle
medial in both anterior and posterior view
humerus: capitulum
articulates with radius of arm
humerus: trochlea
looks like a spool, bigger part is visible from anterior side
humerus: coronoid fossa
anterior hole - works with ulna
humerus: olecranon fossa
posterior hole - works with ulna
ulna
medial bone of the forarm
ulna: olecranon + coronoid process
olecranon (superior) and coronoid (anterior) - these grip the humerus at the trochlea
ulna: trochlear notch
part which grips the trochlea in a plierslike joint
