Asexual reproduction
Reproduction requiring only 1 single individual, without involving production of gametes and producing genetically identical offspring.
Sexual reproduction
Reproduction involving the production and fusion of gametes, usually involving 2 individuals and producing genteically different offspring. At fertilisation, a diploid zygote is formed.
Fertilisation
Fusing of male and female gamete
Pollination
Process by which a pollen grain produced by an anther lands on a fertile stigma of a carpel.
Self pollination
Process by which the pollen grain from a plant fertilises its own ovule.
Menstrual cycle
28 (approx.) cycle that starts when a woman enters puberty and ends at menopause and in which a matured egg cell will he released for potential fertilisation.
Follicle
Group of cells in which and egg will develop
FSH
Follicle Stimulating Hormone
Hormone release by pituitary glands which stimulates follicle to develop in ovaries
Artificial insemination
Placing of sperm cell high into the uterus of a woman
Invitro fertilisation
Fertilisation of an egg cell and sperm cell outside of body, prior to it being implanted in uterus.
Sexually yransmitted infection
Infectioj transmitted by sexual intercourse ex: HIV
