What are the steps to cleaning SCBA? (9)

Answer 2

1. remove SCBA from service
2. remove air cylinder
3. install plastic cap onto air cylinder threads and wash cylinder w/ soapy water
4. rinse with clean water
5. dry cylinder with clean cloth
6. wipe down pack harness straps, fram, air-lines, pressure reducers w/ soapy water
7. rinse with clean water
8. wipe down SCBA assembly w/ clean, dry cloth
9. check SCBA for damage per “Cylinder Fill Checklist”

What are steps for cleaning mask mounted regulator? (10)

Answer 3

1. remove regulator from mask and SCBA
2. remove obvious dirt from external surfaces with warm, soapy water and rinse w/ clean water
3. inspect inner surface
4. depress donning/ air saver button, close purge valve by turning clockwise
5. disinfect/ sanitize reg by spraying min. 6X of disinfectant into regulator opening

6 shake out excess liquid- allow 10mins contact time before rinsing

7. rinse regulator with runing tap water and shake excess
8. completely dry before using
