Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas.
What does the Pancreas do?
The pancreas produces enzymes for digestion and hormones (insulin) that regulate glucose.
What is the difference between Gall Bladder pain versus Pancreas pain?
Pancreatic pain radiates to back vs GB pain radiates to right shoulder & back.
Sx of ACUTE Pancreatitis?
- upper abdominal pain radiating to the back
- steatorrhea (oily, Smelly stools)
- pain worse after eating, nausea/vomiting,
- weight loss without trying
- lasts a few days

Which is more specific lipase or amylase?
Lab: Increase lipase (more specific), amylase, tests for pancreatitis.
