Q

Describe the life cycle of Physaloptera spp.

A

Indirect.

  1. L1 is passed in the feces or vomitus and does not hatch until ingested by an intermediate host
  2. In the intermediate host, larva develops to L3 and encysts.
  3. When the paratenic or intermediate host is ingested by the final host the L3 is liberated and develops to the adult stage in the stomach.
  4. The nematodes live with the anterior end embedded in the mucosa
