Q

What wine styles are allowed in Monbazillac AOP? Why is it viewed as the most noble aop of bergerac for the wine it produces?

A

Sweet Blanc min 45 g/l
SGN min 85 g/l

It lies just east of where the Gardonette joins the Dordogne, so the same conditions as in Sauternes when the Ciron meets the Garrone. Thusly, botrytis is as almost as reliable here. Plus, they mandate successive tries, prohibit chapitalization in sgn, and have the longest elevage for sweet wine - 6/15 + 2.
