Bulging/protruding of intestine outside the body as
a result of ventral wall defect/weakness through the *umbilicus
*Covered with sac [peritoneal sac]
*located Centrally
*associated with Chromosomal abnormalities
[Trisomy 21 , 18 , Patau –Trisomy 13
] , cardiac defects
Beckwith-Weidman syndrome

At birth: Clinically

**Prenatal detection :
1. US: polyhydramnios
2. MSAFP – Maternal serum
alpha
fetoprotein is HIGH

Treatment

A

1)clean gut with normal saline first
2)Cover abdominal content
3)NG tube
4)IV.fluids
5)IV. Antibiotics
6) urgent surgery within 24- 48 h
