severely affected infants

A

**The condition usually improves within 72 h. , however
sometimes it require assisted ventilation.

Meconium Aspiration Syndrome Management

A
  • Aminofusion [isotonic saline
    umbilical cord compression ]
    to dilute meconium and prevent
  • During delivery , after the head is delivered → suctioning oropharynx
    (not routinely done) before delivering the rest of the body
  • After delivering the body → laryngoscopy (not routinely done)
  • usually, the condition improves within 72h. but sometimes we need
    Endotracheal intubation
