- Foreclosure - Commitment without crisis/deep thinking, “I’ll just work in my dad’s business”
- Moratorium - Crisis and thinking, but no commitment, “I don’t know what to do”
- Identity achievement - crisis, thoughts, commitment
Adolescents are risky because:
1) Nucleus accumbens (to seek rewards and pleasures), develops in early adolescence
2) Prefrontal cortex (planning, reasoning, self-control), develops in adulthood. Can cause IMPULSIVITY or CREATIVITY
