Adrenaline Indications
I BBSIT CASS
I- Imminent respiratory arrest from COPD
B- Brady cardia with moderate or severe cardiovascular compromise
B- Blood pressure support if unresponsive to Matrimonial
S- Severe asthma
I- IN for clinically significant epistaxis
T- Topical for clinically significant bleeding
C- Cardiac arrest
A- Anaphylaxis
S- Septic Shock, Cardiogenic shock, and neurogenic shock, unresponsive to 0.9% NaCl IV and metaraminol IV
S- Stridor
Adrenaline Contraindications
None
Adrenaline Cautions
- Myocardial Ischemia (Because it will increase myocardial oxygen consumption)
- Tachydysrhythmias (As adrenaline will make this worse)
Adrenaline Dose Nebulised
Undiluted 1mg (1 ampoule)
Adrenaline Dose IM
Undiluted 1mg (1 ampoule)
Lateral thigh is preferred IM site
Adrenaline Dose IN
Dilute adrenaline to a total of 10ml using 0.9% NaCl solution.

Dilute adrenaline to a total of 10ml using 0.9% NaCl solution.

Adrenaline Mechanism of Action
- By acting on alpha receptors, it constricts your blood vessels to help maintain your blood pressure and heart function.
- Through its action on beta receptors, it relaxes the smooth muscle in the airways of your lungs to help relieve shortness of breath and wheezing.
Adrenaline Formulation
1mg in 1 ml ampoule
Adrenaline Common Adverse Effects
- Tachycardia
- Tachydysrhythmia
- Myocardia ischemia
- Ventricular ectopy
- Hypertension
- Nausea and vomiting
- Tremor, anxiety and sweating
- Hypoglycaemia
